The Best Gift My Son Received

My son is 10 years old right now. He’s received all kinds of gifts in his entire 10 years of life. He’s gotten money, toys, clothes, frames, coins for his coin collection, art supplies, gift cards, bikes, all kinds of things. I would say the best gift he’s ever gotten was when he was 1 or 2 years old – it was Savings Bonds. He got 3 $50 and 1 $100 Series EE U.S. Savings Bonds. (I have to remember to say thank you to my friends that gave them … Continue reading

I’ve found another great website. I already spend lots of time on the computer with personal stuff. With the websites I’m finding, I could probably spend a whole week skimming these pages. This website was titled “Debt Free Living”, it use to be called “Cheapskate Monthly”. It offers the different financial calculators, tips on getting out of debt, bookstore of beneficial finance books, directory of finance coaches, etc. The section that I really liked was the 145 pages of random tips on being frugal with every day stuff. I took … Continue reading

Focus on Saving, not Spending

What do you do when you know you’re gonna get a bonus? If you’re like most people, you probably are thinking, “What will I spend that extra money on?” You probably think, “I worked hard for this bonus, I deserve to treat myself.” If we want to get ahead in our debt, we need to change our thinking. If we want to be rich and have money in the bank, we have to think and act as if we do. (hehe) We have to think like a millionaire, we have … Continue reading

You guys have heard of Wikipedia, right? It’s the online encyclopedia written collaboratively by volunteers, that would be people like you and me. Not as well-known, there is WikiHow. Examples are “How to Make Money”, and if that’s not good enough, “How to Make Money FAST“. “How to Convince People you are Not Rich” (I’m assuming you have to be rich first) “How to Get Money without Working” (Can … Continue reading

Save a buck and a half

I received our business cell phone bill. We have 7 different people on our account. I don’t normally scrutinize the bill but this month I noticed a little change in the overall amount due. I looked over the bill and saw that there were a couple of phones that went over their monthly minutes, a couple with international calls. No big deal. There were also charges for “411” calls. This bothered me a bit. We don’t know a phone number so we conveniently called 4-1-1. Each time we dialed these … Continue reading

Our buddy from San Francisco shared a website with us. We love hearing about these cool websites. It’s the *buzz* – “word of mouth marketing”, “social networking”. Our company is so about sharing information and resources. The website he shared is called Prosper. This business has set up an online community that lends and borrows money to each other. Spotya jumps on board to Go Green!

Last week we started our company’s van pool. Hip, Hip Hooray! Go Green! We moved into a new, bigger office about a month ago. A lot of us, including the boss, commuted 50-60 miles to work each day. There were about 9 of us trekking in 5 different vehicles, spending some big money each week for fuel. Figuring we were spending too much in gas, we decided to get together and do something. We called around for our options. We decided that our best option was to start a van … Continue reading
