Benefits of Recycling

Just, USE IT!

We were at Taco Bell the other day. At the end of our meal, I noticed that we had a few leftover hot sauce packets, forks and napkins. I just hate to throw these away. They’re not even used! Whenever I leave restaurants, I always do one of two things. Leave those packets or napkins on the table OR I take them home and use them. It pains me to just throw it away just because we’re lazy to do something with it. This reminds me of my boys. They … Continue reading

We really do recycle

I process our payday loans. I answered the phone the other day. Our customer wanted to do a carryover option on her payday loan.  She told me that she liked to do it this way because she didn’t want to fax anything. It would take paper, then our paper, that it saves trees that she does it this way. I totally agreed with her. I told her that we even recycle our paper, that we use the back of our paper and run it through our printer again. She really … Continue reading

Who takes donations?

Our boy’s soccer team is having a rummage sale to raise funds for their post season tournaments. We are having it in front of a local middle school. Here’s our dilemma. What will we do with the leftover stuff after the rummage sale ends. I called the Salvation Army and they don’t do pickups on Saturdays. What a bummer! So what we will have to do is drop off a bunch of stuff at our nearest Goodwill, which is only 6 miles away and is open until 8pm on Saturdays. … Continue reading

School Budget Cuts…maybe they aren’t too bad?

We received an automated call from our son’s middle school last night. They have posted the school’s newsletter onto their website. If they didn’t have an email address for you, they would send your child a hard copy of that newsletter. Budget cuts. Saving paper. Saving money. Saving trees. I thought it was such a great idea. Why didn’t we think of that earlier? I don’t know how many times I’ve received flyers from school or other places and barely read them and it went directly into the trash. Every … Continue reading

Too many plastic water bottles

It’s the end of August and it’s getting HOT. Over 100degrees. Ouch! I feel myself dehydrated, drinking more water. I thought I was doing well by reusing my plastic Kirkland water bottle, refilling it with filtered tap water or refilling it with the water from the Sparklett’s cooler. I would use the plastic bottle for a couple days then grab another. I heard something about bacteria in the plastic after awhile. We went to the beach a couple days ago and my friend was packing the family’s lunch. She packed … Continue reading

Need a cheap household cleaner?

If you’re like me, you’re tired of spending all this money on expensive household cleaners. You need Windex for windows, Kaboom! and Scrubbing Bubbles for the bathrooms, you need Lysol for the kitchen, you need Woolite, bleach or Spray ‘N Wash for laundry, you need something for all the different floors you need to clean. Oh, and then to organize them under your kitchen sink and then to find it when you need it. I found a handy versatilevinegar.org website that gives so many tips & uses for vinegar, created … Continue reading

Earth Day -April 22, 2009

Earth Day brings out cool things in people and companies. Definitely look around for specials. I know at a lot of those Earth Day Fairs and other events, they’ll have a lot of information and freebies. Search around your town, they will be out there. I was checking out Spoofee to see what I’ve been missing. I’ve been enjoying Spring Break with my kids so I try to stay away from the computer and bond with the kids. It turns out I missed some free stuff on Tax Day, April … Continue reading
