This next food fraud topic is not at the top of the list, but it is still enough of a risk to share the concern. Baby formula is a common target for retail theft. The criminals often tamper with the expiration dates, or sell-by codes to add life to the product. This will give the criminal more time to pose this product as safe to buy. A reminder from a previous post about adulterated milk or powdered milk that can be used in making formula also adds to the risk factor.
When buying formula, buy from a major retailer and stay away from flea market sales or online auctions. Also, if you notice that the expiration date has been blurred out or tampered with, do not buy it or use it if you do not notice till you are home.
Formula can eat away at a budget, but you are better off getting a payday loan to help cover the cost when funds are low verses buying product from a source which carries a higher risk of tampering.
