There are three opportunities to obtain a FREE credit report:
1) If you applied for a loan and were turned down, you can request a copy by writing the appropriate credit bureau within 60 days of your notice.
2) If you’re unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days; if you’re on welfare; or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, including identity theft.
3) If a company takes adverse action against you, such as denying your application for credit, insurance, or employment, based on information in your report. You also have 60 days of receiving notice of the action. The notice will give you the name, address, and phone number of the consumer reporting company.
In order to receive a FREE credit report, you must request from this centralized source. AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.
If you’re still interested in obtaining your credit information and are not eligible for a free report in these 3 ways, then a consumer reporting company may charge you up to $9.50 for a copy of your report within a 12-month period. To buy a copy of your report, contact:
